Mr. Ratterman helped found Bats Global Markets in 2005, and served as Chief Executive Officer from June 2007 until March 2015, retaining the role of Chairman until the company’s merger with CBOE Holdings in 2017. Mr. Ratterman remains active in the securities industry as a director on the CBOE public board as well as a member of the SEC’s Equity Market Structure Advisory Committee.
Prior to joining Bats, Mr. Ratterman was vice president of business development at Tradebot Systems. Previously, he was chief information officer at LabOne, the Lenexa-based health screening and diagnostic testing company now owned by Quest Diagnostics. Before joining LabOne, Mr. Ratterman was chief technology officer at Bridge Information Systems, where he was employed from 1990 to 2002.
An accomplished water skier, rock climber, track and distance runner, professional photographer and type-rated ATP commercial pilot, Mr. Ratterman holds a degree in mathematics and computer science from Central Missouri State University, as well as Series 7, 24, 27, 55 and 66 licenses.
Mr. Ratterman and his wife Sandy are founders and operators of two charities in Kansas City – “Hope in the Streets,” which provides the homeless with food and other necessities and the “Worship Wagon,” offering a weekly church service to the homeless. He is also the current Board President and a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight Central, a charitable aviation organization that provides free medical and humanitarian flights for people in need across the country.
