Michel Després was President and Chief Executive Officer of Retraite Québec and a member of its Board of Directors from January 2016 to December 2021. He also chaired the Forum des dirigeants des grands organismes publics from 2010 to 2021.
From 2011 to 2015, Mr. Després was Chair of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST) and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST). From 2007 to 2011, he headed the Commission des normes du travail as its President and Chief Executive Officer. He held a number of different positions in Québec’s National Assembly of which he has been a member for close to 20 years. He was Minister of Labour (2003-2005) and then Minister of Transport and Minister of the Capital-Nationale (2005-2007), in addition to serving on various committees.
Michel Després holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Université Laval and is also a graduate of the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés. In 1995, he was made Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Pléiade by the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie.
