Mike McCann

Lecturer In Computer Science at Cal State Monterey Bay

Mike McCann is an experienced lecturer in computer science at California State University, Monterey Bay since August 2017, and has been a software engineer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) since March 1996. Mike serves as a representative for MBARI at the Open Geospatial Consortium and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Web3D Consortium. As an independent software consultant since 1990, Mike has also held the position of mathematician and director of the scientific visualization lab at the Naval Postgraduate School from 1985 to 1996. Educationally, Mike is an ABD candidate for a PhD in Physical Oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School and holds a Master of Science in Physical Oceanography from North Carolina State University, along with dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Oceanography and Physics from Humboldt State University.
