Rebecca Edgar is a microbiologist and biological safety officer at Callaghan Innovation since March 2018. Previously, Rebecca served as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Kentucky from January 2015 to June 2017, conducting research focused on disease-causing mechanisms in Streptococcus pyogenes under the guidance of Research Professor Natalia Korotkova. Prior to that, Rebecca was a research assistant at Victoria University of Wellington, working on various bacterial pathogenesis projects in Professor David Ackerley’s laboratory. Educationally, Rebecca holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry from the University of Otago, completed in 2014, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biochemistry from the same institution, awarded in 2009.
