Drew Von Glahn

External Credit Committee Member at Calvert Impact Capital

Drew is the founding Executive Director of the Collaborative for Frontier Finance, a multi-stakeholder initiative to address the gap in access to finance for small and growing businesses in emerging markets. His career spans the private, nonprofit, and public sectors. Drew has been a Senior Advisor to the World Bank and several global philanthropic organizations. His focus is on impact investing, private enterprise solutions for development, and the role of catalytic capital in addressing global social, economic and environmental challenges. Along with being a member of Calvert Impact Capital’s Credit Committee, Drew is a member of the investment committees of the Nyala Ventures and the Nordic Development Fund’s Catalyst Facility.

Drew is a 20-year veteran of Wall Street and has led over $30 billion in capital transactions across the globe, including a number of “first-of-kind” financings across emerging and developed markets. He has been a member of a tech VC fund, as well as Managing Director for Technology, Communications and Media at ING. Drew built and managed investment banking operations at such global firms as Credit Suisse and the predecessor firms to J.P. Morgan. He was an advisor to closed-end equity and debt funds and various private equity investment vehicles. Drew led the World Bank’s venture philanthropy program, a portfolio that consisted of enterprises across a range of services such as clean energy, sustainable agriculture, education, health, financial inclusion, water/sanitation, and gender rights/equity.

He was an early architect on such collaborative initiatives as the Boost Africa program (an EIB/AfDB/EU fund of funds for SMEs), the MacArthur Foundation’s Catalytic Capital Continuum, Co-Impact (a multi-stakeholder initiative investing in system change opportunities) and the Rockefeller Foundation’s Green Utilities 2.0. On the climate front, Drew has advised Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Nordic Development Fund on innovative approaches to driving scaled capital solutions. He was the former CEO of a global social enterprise and EVP Finance & Strategy for a start-up online finance company. He has been a board member of for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Drew was the Co-founder of Third Sector Capital, a leading US advisor on impact financings and Pay-For-Success mechanisms. As a researcher and author his focus has been on innovative SME finance and performance-based financing mechanisms. Drew provides pro bono advisory services to such transformative non-profits such as Last Mile Health, Roca, Inc., and Splash.
