Gus Spathis is the founder & CEO of The Xogito Group, a product development and management consulting firm, focused on startups, business transformation and advisory services in emerging technologies. Prior to the Xogito Group he co-founded CE Interactive. Prior to CE Interactive, Gus honed his leadership skills at many high profile startups and larger companies working with a wide range of clients, including while at Poppe-Tyson Interactive, he led technology teams that delivered a number of groundbreaking projects for a variety of clients such as Priceline, Lending Tree, ING, Dean Witter, Chase, Johnson & Johnson, and Citibank. A highlight of his time at Poppe-Tyson was leading the real-time broadcast of the IBM Deep Blue vs Kasparov chess match technical team. It was the most watched internet event at that time. Deep Blue’s victory over Kasparov marked a historic event in computing. He later served as CTO at E-Commerce Solutions creating the first contextually product based advertising engine used by Excite.com, iVillage.com, DejaNews (now google groups), NY Times, and a variety of other high traffic portals. Subsequent to e-Commerce Solutions, Gus led the team that built Partsearch Technologies and partstore.com, an INC 500 Fastest Growing Companies company. Partstore was acquired by Best Buy. At Partstore Gus and his team delivered on of the first production quality machine learning systems that could accurately identify product categories from descriptions on a catalog of over 100M products.
Gus serves on a number of corporate and non-profit advisory boards and generously donates his time assisting early stage entrepreneurs. Gus’ career spans over 30 years, managing businesses and building award-winning teams and technology. He has focused on making entrepreneur’s visions become reality by solving difficult problems efficiently and creating breakthrough solutions. As an entrepreneur himself he has participated in founding over a dozen different companies. He is a sought after advisor by venture capitalists, angel investors, and private equity firms. Most recently Gus launched Xogito Ventures, focused on angel investments in a variety of companies and funds.
