Rayid Ghani

Rayid Ghani is a Distinguished Career Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, holding a joint appointment in the Machine Learning Department and the Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy since September 2019. Ghani's work focuses on the intersection of AI, machine learning, and data science with public policy and social good, collaborating with governments and non-profits across various sectors including health and education. In addition, Ghani serves as the Director of the Data Science for Social Good fellowship at the University of Chicago, co-founded the Coleridge Initiative to enhance empirical foundations in social science, and co-founded Edgeflip to empower non-profits through data-driven advocacy. Previous roles include Chief Scientist at the Obama for America campaign and Director of Analytics Research at Accenture Technology Labs, as well as a Research Associate Professor and senior fellow at the University of Chicago. Ghani obtained an M.S. in Machine Learning and a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics.
