Zhi-Qi Cheng

Zhi-Qi Cheng is a Project Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University, involved in DARPA's KAIROS and KAIROS Plus projects since December 2017, with a focus on multimedia system development and delivery. Cheng has served as a co-teacher for the Large-scale Multimedia Analysis graduate course at CMU and has previously held positions as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Research Associate, contributing to significant government-funded projects in AI and analytics. Notable achievements include leading the development of the KAIROS multimedia system, known for its applications in national security and public health, and winning top positions in TRECVID challenges while at City University of Hong Kong. Prior experience includes research roles at Microsoft Research, Google, and Alibaba Group, where Cheng contributed to pioneering technologies in e-commerce and computer vision. Zhi-Qi Cheng holds a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
