Josh Niewoehner is a legal professional with extensive experience in criminal defense and a strong focus on cannabis-related legal issues. Currently serving as the Supervisor for the New Leaf Cannabis Expungement Project at CARPLS since November 2023, Josh supervises a team dedicated to expunging criminal records related to cannabis arrests in Illinois. From August 2008 to October 2023, Josh operated a solo practice as an attorney, handling a variety of felony and misdemeanor cases in state courts. Prior experience includes assisting in a high-profile white-collar criminal case at Genson & Gillespie, working as a contract attorney on a major telecommunications merger, and appearing pro hac vice at the Tigar Law Firm. Josh holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Affairs and a Doctor of Law degree from American University, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Boston College.
