Mark Burnette

Mark Burnette has extensive experience in educational leadership, currently serving as School Division Superintendent for Carroll County Public Schools since March 2020. Prior to this role, Mark held various positions within Carroll County Public Schools, including Interim Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Director of Middle and Secondary Education, among others, from 2012 to March 2020 and 2001 to 2012. Mark also served as Principal in both Grayson County and Galax City Public Schools, as well as Assistant Principal and Teacher/Coach in Carroll County Public Schools. Mark earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech between 2003 and 2005.
