Andrew McCarthy

Andrew McCarthy is an experienced geoscientist currently serving as Head of Geoscience at CCED since April 2023. Prior to this role, McCarthy held positions such as Technical Manager - Middle East at CGG and Exploration Manager Europe at Woodside Energy, where significant contributions included the exploration of the Irish Porcupine Basin and Bulgarian Black Sea assets. McCarthy has extensive expertise in exploration and new ventures, having worked as Director of Exploration New Ventures and Chief Geophysicist at White Rose Energy Ventures LLP, as well as Exploration Manager at Afren, managing exploration portfolios across multiple African countries. Additional past roles at BG Group, Shell, and Enterprise Oil have solidified McCarthy's comprehensive background in geophysics within various international settings. McCarthy holds a BA in Geology from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Geology from Royal Holloway, University of London.
