William J. Madia

William J. Madia is vice president emeritus at Stanford University where he was responsible for oversight of the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy laboratory. Dr. Madia previously served as executive vice president of laboratory operations at Battelle Memorial Institute, a non-profit independent research and development organization, where he oversaw the management or co-management of six U.S. Department of Energy national laboratories, from 1999-2007. Previously, he served as Director of both Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, managed Battelle’s global environment business, served as president of Battelle Technology International, president and director of Battelle’s Columbus Laboratories, and general manager of Battelle’s Project Management Division.
