Tanya Woods is a Strategic Advisor at the Chamber of Digital Commerce. Prior to their current role, they served as General Counsel, Corporate Secretary & EVP Regulatory Affairs for Hut 8 Mining Corp. from February 2021 to April 2022. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing legal, regulatory, government affairs, and governance responsibilities to support the transformation and rapid scaling of one of North America's largest publicly traded bitcoin mining pioneers.
During their time at Hut 8 Mining Corp., they built the legal department, cross-listed the company as the first Canadian miner on NASDAQ Global Select Market (June 2021), completed ~$450M of capital markets offerings, co-designed and launched the first-ever industry comprehensive ESG disclosure program, completed a rapid M&A asset purchase of a data-centre and cloud co-location business, and built a GR strategy and coalition leading to Bill C-249 being tabled in the House of Commons.
Her day-to-day responsibilities included overseeing domestic and international commercial agreements, capital markets activities and compliance, US and Canadian intellectual property filings, and other legal issues relating to corporate governance, HR, procurement, marketing and investor relations. Tanya also handled all corporate legal and governance matters for the subsidiary companies in Canada and Barbados.
Tanya Woods has a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa, a Master of Laws from American University Washington College of Law, and a Master of Laws from the University of Ottawa. Tanya also has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications & Spanish from the University of Ottawa and a Semester Abroad in Spanish Language and Literature from Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo.
