Kara Lusk

Kara Lusk is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in public relations, media relations, and crisis communication. Currently serving as the Public Information Officer for Chatham County since August 2019, Kara manages county communications, oversees the county website and social media channels, develops communication strategies, and serves as a spokesperson. Prior roles include Communications Manager at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where responsibilities included media management and event planning, and Public Affairs Manager for the American Red Cross, where Kara acted as the national spokesperson and led crisis communication efforts. A foundational career in journalism includes roles as a reporter and anchor at various news outlets, starting as a News Clerk at WRAL and earning a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
