James Irvine

James Irvine is an experienced marine underwriting professional currently serving as the Head of Marine Global Hull Lines at Chaucer Group since September 2016. Prior to this role, James held various positions at RSA from October 2004 to September 2016, including Senior Class Underwriter and Class Underwriter for Marine Hull, where responsibilities encompassed underwriting international hull and ancillary classes with a focus on the USA, Middle East, and specialist vessels. James began a career in marine underwriting in Dubai, establishing a new regional hull portfolio, and held multiple roles through the RSA Graduate Business Scheme, including positions in marine hull underwriting, claims management, and business analysis. James holds a Master’s Degree in Business Management and a Bachelor's Degree in History and Politics from Lancaster University, along with a high school education from King's College Taunton.
