Joseph J. Mason

Joseph J. Mason, M.Ed, currently serves as an Assistant Principal at Chicago Public Schools since March 2023. Previously, Joseph held the position of Chief of Schools at North Lawndale College Prep High School from July 2022 to February 2023, and prior to that, was Principal at Urban Prep Academies from June 2018 to June 2022, where significant improvements in 9th-grade student retention were achieved. Joseph's experience also includes roles as an Instructional Coach at UI - PCG Education and Assistant Principal at KIPP Texas Public Schools - Houston, with a focus on teacher support and instructional best practices. Joseph started in the field as a Special Education Teacher at Urban Prep Academies and as a Corps Member with Teach For America. Educational credentials include a Master of Education in Public School Leadership from Columbia University, a Doctor of Education from DePaul University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Africana Studies from Union College.
