José Lemus

José Lemus is an experienced professional in economic development and community engagement, currently serving as a Senior Advisor on the Jobs & Economy Team for the City of Detroit. In this role, José facilitates public-private partnerships to advance the city's economic and workforce development objectives. Previously, as a Redevelopment Ready Communities Fellow for the City of Lincoln Park, José led initiatives in brownfield remediation, public participation planning, and development process redesign to support local businesses, particularly those within Hispanic and Black communities. José's background also includes work as a Community Impact Fellow at mHUB, where engagement with stakeholders and support for minority entrepreneurs were key focuses, as well as serving as a Community Organizer at Civic Nebraska, where efforts centered on workforce initiatives and civic leadership development. José holds a Master's degree in Public Policy Analysis from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
