The vibrant and diverse City of Lansing, Michigan, situated on the banks of Michigan's Grand River, is the capital city of the state.  Located in the heart of Michigan, about 90 miles west of Detroit, Lansing is often referred to as the Car Capital of North America and is the birthplace of Oldsmobile, which was founded in 1897. Lansing today boasts a robust economy diversified among several industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, government service, education, textiles, auto parts, metal products, and glass.  The Metro Lansing region is within a two-hour drive of 90% of Michigan’s population, and within a day’s drive of a substantial portion of the U.S. population.
