Manager Employee Services at City of Medicine Hat

Barb Schmaltz is an experienced professional in employee services, currently serving as the Manager of Employee Services at the City of Medicine Hat since November 2010. In this role, Barb is responsible for the leadership and coordination of corporate payroll, benefits, and occupational health functions. Previously, Barb held the position of Payroll & Benefits Work Group Leader, focusing on the development and coordination of payroll and benefits functions. Barb has also served in various other capacities, including Acting Employment Manager and Manager Employee Services in additional roles prior to the current position. The professional journey includes a significant responsibility as the HRIS Project Manager, managing the design and implementation of an in-house Payroll/Human Resource System. Barb holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Saskatchewan.
