Ricky Spero

Dr. Spero is a physicist and entrepreneur in the Triangle. He is co-founder and CEO of Rheomics, a high-tech startup developing life science solutions based on a patented MEMS technology. Rheomics was spun out of UNC Chapel Hill, where he remains active in the University’s Innovate@Carolina initiative. Ricky was also the founder of Mint Market, a peer-to-peer online marketplace for local food. Ricky completed his PhD at UNC in 2010, with a research focus at the intersection of physics, biology, and systems engineering. Thanks to this diverse exposure, Ricky offers a unique perspective that spans the strengths of the Triangle’s startup ecosystem, from software to life science, from science to engineering.
