Aaron Nio

Aaron Nio is currently an advisor at Cognity Labs. Prior to that, they were a senior investment associate at Monk's Hill Ventures, a venture capital firm investing in early-stage tech companies, primarily Series A, in Southeast Asia. At Monk's Hill Ventures, Aaron worked with great entrepreneurs to use technology to improve the lives of millions of people in the region. Aaron took a first principles approach in how they operated and made decisions at MHV, breaking down ideas and business models to understand the fundamentals. Since the founding of Monk’s Hill Ventures in 2014, Aaron had invested in more than 20 fast-growing startups spanning multiple business models and industry verticals. Aaron worked with founders in the early stages of the development of their businesses, and typically invested at the Series A stage. ‍ Aaron believed in the need to earn the right to invest in our founders. Aaron spent considerable time with founders to understand their motivations and business models. Aaron backed startups that had the potential to impact millions of people’s lives, led by passionate entrepreneurs who had the creativity, discipline, and drive to achieve massive scale. ‍ Their footprint spanned across Southeast Asia with on-the-ground teams in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. Their network comprised entrepreneurs, investors, former CEOs, engineers, academics, media and a team of operating advisors with strong domain expertise from cybersecurity, data science, financial services, to healthcare, to provide our founders with the right access and advice as they scale and build.
