Vu Anh Ha

Vu Anh Ha is currently an advisor at Cognity Labs. Prior to this, they were the technical director at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2). Vu has also been a research lead and co-founder of SemanticScholar.org. Vu's areas of expertise include dialog, chatbots, question answering, NLP, and knowledge representation & reasoning.

Ha has been working in the AI field for over 7 years. Vu has experience in early stage product prototyping and advising startups on real-world AI. Vu is also a mentor for the CTO residency program at AI2, where they help technical folks who wish to start an AI company.

Vu Anh Ha received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2001. Vu's dissertation was on Representing and Reasoning with User Preferences. Vu also has a Masters in Computer Science from Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetem, which they received in 1995. Vu's Master's thesis was on A Survey of Online Algorithms and Competitive Analysis. Finally, they have a Bachelor's in Computer Science from Debreceni Egyetem, which they received in 1991.
