Greg Blum has been on the Colts Board of Directors since 2010, serving as President from 2012 to 2016. Born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa, Greg has been playing the trumpet since the fourth grade. In 1976, while a freshman at Dubuque Senior High, he joined the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps, and performed with that group for seven years, a featured soloist for the last three of those years. He played trumpet for two seasons in the University of Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band and was a featured soloist at the 1982 Peach Bowl and the 1983 Gator Bowl.
He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa and has been employed by the Cook Group Companies for 37 years. He has performed as a guest soloist with the marching bands at the University of Louisville and Indiana University. He has also performed with the jazz bands at Dubuque Senior and Hempstead High School.
Greg joined Hampton Road in 2014, and has played with the band annually at the Rock & Roll Rewind, a benefit concert for Albrecht Acres. He also plays in the horn section for Mama Tess & The Chain of Fools. He would like to thank his parents for not letting him quit band in 8th grade.
