Mike has 40 years of experience leading and managing complex security and law enforcement organizations. Mike retired from the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 21 years. As a Military Police Officer, he served in various leadership positions including as the Chief of Antiterrorism/Force Protection Plans and Policy Division at US Central Command, as Chief of Antiterrorism/Physical Security/Electronic Security and Military Police Policy and Training at Headquarters – US Marine Corps, and as Security Director for Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1 – the US Presidential Helicopter Squadron) supporting Presidents Reagan and Bush. He began his law enforcement career as a civilian police officer prior to his Marine Corps service. After retiring, Mike established Summerwind Consultants, Inc. Summerwind develops antiterrorism/force protection and risk management decision-support tools (software, apps, handbooks) that have been adopted as standards and doctrine by the Department of Defense and the Joint Staff. Summerwind’s products are widely used by the Army, Marine Corps, and Navy and are part of the curriculum at the Army and Marine Corps Engineer Schools and the Army Military Police School. Mike has a BA from Florida State University, MA from the US Army Command and Staff College, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Mike is also serving in his third term as Alderman for the Town of Wesson, MS.
