Amy O'Rourke, MPH, serves as the Director of Chronic Disease Prevention and Control at the Cook County Department of Public Health since December 2018. Previously, O'Rourke held leadership roles, including President of the Alumni Board of Directors at Benedictine University and Director of Programs at the Respiratory Health Association, where efforts focused on addressing asthma, COPD, lung cancer, tobacco control, and air quality. O'Rourke also contributed to public health preparedness as Emergency Response Coordinator at the Cook County Department of Public Health from 2010 to 2014. Academic qualifications include a Master of Public Health in Health Management and Policy and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from Benedictine University, as well as certification as a Master Exercise Practitioner from the Emergency Management Institute/FEMA.
