João Mendes Moreira

João Mendes Moreira has extensive experience in the field of scientific information and information technology, currently serving as the Director of the Scientific Information Area at Unidade FCCN since 1998. In this role, João manages several key initiatives, including the Research Information Systems National Program and the National Open Access Initiative. Additionally, João holds positions as a National delegate for both the Council of the European Union and the European Open Science Cloud. At CERN, João is actively involved in the Repository Steering and Support Working Group and the SCOAP3 Steering committee, promoting Open Access publishing in High Energy Physics. Previously, João was a member of the DSpace Steering Committee and the ORCID Communications Group, and worked as an IT Consultant at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. João Mendes Moreira holds a Master's degree in Computer Sciences Engineering from Universidade do Minho.
