Renata Avila

Renata Avila serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Open Knowledge Foundation, leading a global team dedicated to promoting openness and accessibility of non-personal information. Renata is also a Steering Committee Member for Lacuna Fund, an Advisory Board Member and Board of Directors Member for Creative Commons, and a Global Board of Trustees Member for Digital Future Society. Renata’s expertise extends to being an expert at Conflux Center and an author for Global Voices Online, while previously holding positions as Co-Director for Technology for Transparency Initiative and Executive Director at Fundación Ciudadanía Inteligente. Renata’s academic credentials include an LL.M. in Intellectual Property from Università degli Studi di Torino, a Diploma in International Law from The Hague Academy of International Law, and a Licenciado in Law from Universidad Francisco Marroquín. Additionally, Renata has experience as a CSISAC Steering Committee Member at the OECD Committee on the Digital Economy Policy and has held fellowships with Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence and the Public Interest Technology University Network.
