Mette Steen

Mette Steen is a seasoned professional in humanitarian response and migration management, currently serving as the Global Coordinator for the Route Based Migration Programme at the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), a position held since May 2023. With extensive experience at the Danish Red Cross, Mette has fulfilled various roles including Emergency Response Units member, Portfolio/Operations Advisor focusing on risk management in crisis-affected countries, and Regional Migration and Displacement Advisor for Africa. Previous positions also include Programme and Operations Coordinator for the Danish Refugee Council, where Mette ensured compliance and effectiveness in response to the Syria crisis, and Emergency Response Operations Manager at IFRC, overseeing refugee support initiatives.
