Alex Dowlen has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. They started their career in the United States Air Force as a Voice Network Systems Technician and later transitioned to becoming a Geospatial Intelligence Analyst. After leaving the military, Alex worked as an Imagery Analyst & ISR Tactical Controller for the Joint Special Operations Command. They then joined NBCUniversal Media, LLC as a Global Response & Intelligence Officer, where they focused on enhancing situational awareness and security procedures across the company. Alex also worked as an Emergency Management Specialist for FEMA, where they developed and disseminated the FEMA Region II Common Operating Picture. They briefly worked as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Consultant for HBO. Currently, Alex works at Dataminr, initially as a Manager for US DoD Customer Success, then as a Senior Manager, and currently holds the position of Director. In their roles at Dataminr, they have led client success efforts, supported government functions and mission requirements, and conducted senior government executive interactions, training, and briefing engagements.
Alex Dowlen has a comprehensive education history. In 2017, they attended Columbia University and obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a specialization in Advanced Management & Finance. Prior to that, from 2014 to 2016, Alex studied at Penn State University, where they earned a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) degree in Homeland Security - Geospatial Intelligence. Before Penn State University, Alex attended American Military University from 2011 to 2014 and completed a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with Honors in Intelligence Studies. Their education journey began at the Community College of the Air Force, where they obtained an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Intelligence Studies & Tech. | Electronic Systems Tech. from 2006 to 2011.
In addition to their degrees, Alex has also obtained several certifications. They received a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Geospatial Intelligence Applications in October 2016 from Penn State University. Alex also holds a Professional Certificate in Geospatial Intelligence obtained in December 2015 from the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF). Furthermore, they completed a Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Intelligence Analytics in October 2015 at Penn State University.
Currently, Alex is a candidate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the certificate program "No Code AI and Machine Learning: Building Data Science Solutions" with an expected completion date in the fall of 2023.
