David is the retired CEO of The Todd Organization, a national executive benefits planning company. An economics major, he was a 1st team all-conference member of the football team, a diver on the swim team, and a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He later earned an MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill and an MSFS from The American College. David has served Davidson as a member of the Board of Trustees (1992-1993, 1996-2015), the Board of Visitors former chair and member of the Game Changers campaign committee, Richardson Expansion fundraising committee, Davidson Trust Steering Committee, Davidson Athletic Foundation board, Annual Fund Leadership Council, Presidential Search Committee (which recommended the hiring of Carol Quillen), Regional Campaign Chair and Major Gifts Committee member for the Campaign for Davidson, the Let Learning Be Cherished Campaign cabinet, and multiple reunion committees. In addition to his service at Davidson, David was also a member of The Board of Trustees of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro-UNCG (2011-2021) serving as board chair for two years. David was also a member of the Chancellor Search Committee for UNCG that recommended the hiring of its current chancellor, Frank Gilliam Ph.D. David is also a board member of the Edward M. Armfield Jr. Foundation.
