Demetrios Arvanitis is an experienced professional in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and physiology. Currently serving as Associate Editor of the journal "Open Medicine" at De Gruyter since May 2023, Demetrios has contributed to the International Biology Olympiad as a trainer and jury member since 2008, focusing on the training of Greek contestants. As a research associate at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens since March 2003, Demetrios has a strong background in academic research. Previous involvement includes participant roles in EUTrigTreat (2009-2015) and Technological Perspective Foresight (2002-2003), along with serving as a Second Lieutenant in the Hellenic Army, where responsibilities included microbiological and biochemical analyses. Demetrios holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Crete and a BSc in Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
