Vanessa Pilley

Vanessa Pilley is a Senior Advisor at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, focusing on the Ocean Sustainability Strategy. With extensive experience, Vanessa has previously served as Global Catastrophic Risk Lead and Senior Scientific Officer, managing vulnerability assessments and international collaborations, respectively. Additionally, Vanessa is a School Governor at Flax Bourton Church of England Primary School and a member of the Royal Geographical Society's Disaster Risk Management Professional Practice Committee. Involved in various environmental initiatives, Vanessa holds leadership roles at HazAware and has volunteered as a Ranger for the Bristol Zoological Society. Vanessa has a Master's degree in Disaster Management from Coventry University and a Bachelor's degree in Geology and Geography from Keele University.
