Sonia Kahlon

Sonia Kahlon is a board member at Defy Ventures and was previously with Molar Ventures and Rich Orthodontics. Sonia has over eight years of experience in the orthodontics industry.

Sonia co-founded Rich Orthodontics in February 2010 and served as the clinical director. Sonia led the company's growth from one location to seven locations, with gross revenue increasing from $400,000 to $5.2 million. The company was acquired by Spring & Sprout Dental Holdings in February 2016. Sonia was responsible for strategic planning and budgeting, which resulted in a debt-free business at the time of acquisition. Sonia also designed and executed effective marketing plans to target customer segments.

Sonia administered a team of over thirty employees, including managers and associate orthodontists. Sonia implemented human resources protocols that allowed for business growth and created a management team training program that facilitated internal promotions. Sonia also developed an orthodontist training program that involved mentoring associates for three to six months. Sonia introduced clinical systems to monitor and maintain the quality of treatment performed by associate orthodontists. In addition, Sonia implemented compliance systems for HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards.

Sonia Kahlon has a DMD from Tufts University, a certificate in photography from the Philadelphia Photos Arts Center, a certificate in orthodontics from the University of Pittsburgh, a BPharm from Northeastern University, and a BS in microbiology from the University of Toronto.
