Sahan Kamara is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in information security and technology management. Currently serving as Chief Information Security Officer at the U.S. Department of State since November 2021, Sahan previously held the role of Special Advisor at The White House from January 2013 to November 2021. Sahan has held various leadership positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency, including Director and Deputy Director, where strategic partnerships with the National Intelligence Community were established. Sahan’s earlier career includes roles as a Senior Information Technology Manager and Telecommunications Project Manager, along with foundational engineering positions at HP and NASA. Sahan's educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Howard University and two Master’s degrees, one in National Security - Cyber Security Leadership from the National Defense University and another in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The George Washington University.
