Juan Carlos Suarez Serrato

Juan Carlos Suarez Serrato is an accomplished academic and researcher currently serving as an Assistant Professor and Research Scholar at Duke University since July 2012. In addition, Juan Carlos has been a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research since July 2014. Prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Stanford University and a contract Research Assistant position at the Kauffman Foundation, where empirical research was conducted for Alicia Robb on projects related to the Kauffman Firm Survey. Juan Carlos has also held research assistant roles that contributed to studies on housing and portfolio choices. Educationally, Juan Carlos earned a PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, where research focused on government spending and its impact on economic outcomes, in addition to entrepreneurship and decision-making complexities. Prior degrees include a BA in Mathematics and Theoretical Economics from Trinity University and participation in the AEA Summer Program in Economics at Duke University.
