Rana El Kaliouby

Rana El Kaliouby is a Venture Partner at E14 Fund. Prior to this, they were with YPO: New England Chapter, Smart Eye, Mass Technology Leadership Council, Egyptian American Enterprise Fund, Harvard Business School, YPO, World Economic Forum, and The American University in Cairo. Rana is also the co-founder and CEO of Affectiva.

Rana is a world-renowned expert in AI and emotion recognition technology. Rana has been featured in Forbes, TED, Fortune, Wired, and MIT Technology Review. Rana was named one of the “25 Women Changing the World” by People Magazine and one of MIT’s “Innovators Under 35”. Rana holds a PhD in Computer Vision and Machine Learning from the University of Cambridge.

Rana El Kaliouby received their BSc in computer science, electronics, and business administration from the American University in Cairo. Rana went on to earn their MSc in computer science from the same school. Rana then pursued their PhD in computer science at the University of Cambridge. After completing their post-doctoral work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in computer science and technology, they enrolled in an executive education program at Harvard Kennedy School focused on global leadership and public policy for the 21st century.
