Charles Dudley

Board Member at East Sussex College

After graduating with a degree in politics from the University of Warwick, Charles worked for the Greater London Council Panning Department. In 1976 he moved to take up a position at the University of Sussex. His role at the University changed over time and was wide ranging. On becoming the Director of Residential and Campus Services he had responsibility for campus master planning and development, the sport service, student housing, catering strategy, contracts and leases, childcare services and community engagement. In this role he worked closely with the student and staff representatives. He served on several national bodies, including seven years on the Board of the British Universities Accommodation Consortium, including three as the chair. He also chaired the Falmer Almhouses Trust. In 2014 he was made an Honorary Fellow of the University. He retired in July 2017 but provided some consultancy services until January 2018.

Following his retirement from the University, he was appointed as a Director of the Sussex County Football Association with a particular brief related to facility management and development. His love of sport also extends to cricket. He is a member of Lord’s Taverners, the national charity for cricket. He was the founding secretary and past chair of the East Sussex Region.
