Joël Vacheron

Joël Vacheron serves as a scientific collaborator and lecturer at ECAL University of Art and Design Lausanne since October 2010, focusing on R&D and visual communication. Vacheron's diverse background includes roles as a researcher, tutor, and guest lecturer since January 2006, and as a lecturer in visual art at édhéa from October 2013 to September 2017. Vacheron co-founded Helvetic Centre, facilitating cultural collaborations between Switzerland and the UK, and coordinated significant exhibitions. Additional experience includes copywriting for Red Bull Music Academy Switzerland and serving as web editor-in-chief for Vibrations Magazine. Vacheron began an academic journey at the University of Lausanne with a teaching assistantship and lectureship in sociology of image from 1998 to 2004 while pursuing advanced degrees, including a PhD candidacy in Sciences and Technologies Studies from 2015 to 2021. Academic qualifications comprise a Master’s in Photography and Urban Cultures from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Master of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Lausanne.
