Kathleen deLaski

Founder + Board Chair at Education Design Lab

Kathleen deLaski is the founder and Board Chair of Education Design Lab, a national non-profit working to scale leadership development "beyond the classroom" in the public K-12 education sector. Prior to their work at Education Design Lab, deLaski served as the Senior Advisor at StudentsFirst from January 2011 to July 2012. In this role, they oversaw the largest degree-granting university in Virginia. Kathleen was also elected by fellow Visitors to chair Academic Affairs, University Life and Diversity Committee from 2007-2012 and chair Fundraising Committee in 2012. George Mason was named 2013 #1 "Up-and-Coming" University by US News and World Report during their time as Senior Advisor.

From May 2008 to December 2010, deLaski served as the Senior Program Officer at The Walton Family Foundation. In this role, they managed a $30 million grant portfolio focused on improving access to quality K-12 education.

deLaski has also served on the Board of Visitors at George Mason University from August 2005 to June 2013 and as President of the deLaski Family Foundation. Kathleen is currently a Board Member at Deltek, a software company that specializes in enterprise resource planning.

Kathleen deLaski has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/English from Duke University and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School.
