John Prince, PhD, is an experienced data scientist and machine learning engineer currently serving as a Staff/Lead Data Scientist at Eko since May 2019, where the focus is on applying machine learning to combat heart disease through a platform of cardiac screening devices and care coordination software. Previous roles include Software Engineering Consultant at OpenMRS, where server-side Java development supported data processing in rural Sub-Saharan Africa, and Principal Investigator at KEMRI - Wellcome Trust, leading a clinical study on automated risk analysis in pediatric triage. John also holds a PhD from the University of Oxford, with a thesis on Parkinson's Disease assessment using machine learning, and has experience as a Lead Software Engineer in a health setting in Vietnam and as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Educational qualifications include a D.Phil in Healthcare Innovation from the University of Oxford, a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol, and completion of a Front-End Developer Boot Camp at Scrimba.
