Leonid D. Shvartsman

Professor Shvartsman received his M.S. degree in physics from the Saratov University, Saratov, in 1977, and a Ph.D. in physics and mathematics from the Institute of Semiconductors of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1984. From 1979 to 1990, he conducted basic research in solid-state theory at the Institute of Semiconductors while teaching at the Novosibirsk Pedagogical University where he received his Professorship in theoretical physics in 1989. From 1991 to 1995, he worked as Project Analyst for DSI Ltd., Tel Aviv, Israel. From 1996 to 1997, worked as Director for VVL Ltd., Jerusalem, Israel. Since 1997, he has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of GA&P Technologies Ltd., Jerusalem, Israel.

He has also been with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem since 1991, combining basic research in quantum theory of solids with applied research in medical physics. Prof. Shvartsman also worked on condensed matter theory, band structure calculations, physical models of biomedical phenomena, cardiac output, oximetry, noninvasive blood measurements, and advanced algorithms of signal processing.
