Michael Hacking

Michael Hacking is an accomplished entrepreneur and executive with extensive experience in conservation, energy, and education sectors. As the Founder and Director of AWE since January 2024, Michael aims to cultivate a nature economy in Africa, focusing on restoring wilderness and wildlife while engaging various stakeholders. In addition, Michael serves as Director and Concession holder at Chewore Wilderness, overseeing a significant concession in Zimbabwe dedicated to biodiversity conservation. Michael's leadership roles extend to being Chairman of Mocoh, which champions energy initiatives, and CEO of the mc2h foundation, emphasizing youth investment in Africa. As a Syndicate Member and Investor at Emerge Education, Michael supports early-stage tech ventures addressing educational challenges. Michael's career began in oil trading, having held key positions at Engen Petroleum International and Vanol International, and Michael holds an MBA from IMD and a BA in Economics and African History from the University of Cape Town.
