Chantel T. Kassongo

Chantel has an extensive background representing employers on a diverse range of employment and labour matters including certification applications, collective agreement administration, advising on discipline, terminations, defending wrongful dismissal claims, human rights and labour relations complaints and grievance arbitrations, all in both Federal and Provincial jurisdictions. She also has significant experience with providing strategic corporate advice from a labour relations perspective, and leads employers as chief negotiator with respect to collective bargaining and bargaining disputes.

Chantel has appeared as counsel before courts, arbitration boards, human rights tribunals, and Federal and Provincial Labour Relations Boards. Her extensive practical knowledge of labour and employment law is based on both private and corporate experience. Chantel represents a broad cross-section of management-side clients in all areas of her practice. Clients represented include organizations in both the public and private sector, governments at the provincial and municipal level, public agencies, health care employers, and educational institutions. Private sector clients include transportation, gaming, industrial manufacturing, agricultural and retail undertakings. Before joining Neuman Thompson in June of 2010, Chantel was the Director of Global Labour Relations for Viterra Inc. and prior to that practiced labour and employment law as an associate at a law firm in Saskatchewan.
