Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) is committed to creating a positive legacy and achieving world class, sustainable rehabilitation of former mine assets.

ERA operated Ranger, Australia’s longest continuous uranium mine, surrounded by, but separate from Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. The final drum of Ranger uranium was sold at the start of 2022 and since then the company has been focused on mine rehabilitation. 

Today, ERA’s strategic priority is the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Ranger Project Area to a standard where it can be reincorporated into the surrounding Kakadu National Park if Traditional Owners and the Commonwealth Government wish.

The Water and Environmental Management team at Energy Resources of Australia Ltd is responsible for overseeing water quality and environmental sustainability during the rehabilitation of the Ranger Project Area. They conduct water monitoring, manage water resources, and implement environmental protection measures to ensure the area meets the standards required for reintegration into Kakadu National Park.
