Dr. Christina M. Ramirez, Ph.D. is a tenured professor of biostatistics at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, where she also serves as Chair of Admissions in the department of biostatistics. She is a recognized expert in infectious diseases such as COVID-19, HIV as well as machine learning and biostatistics. She has extensive experience in clinical trials, working as a trial statistician, serving as a member of data and safety monitoring boards, and providing oversight on advisory committees. Dr. Ramirez also serves as an editor or reviewer on multiple leading scientific and academic journals, and has published more than 120 peer-reviewed articles. She has served as a permanent member of the Cardiovascular and Integrative Clinical Sciences Study Section for the National Institutes of Health, while also serving on an ad hoc basis for other study sections at NIH and Nationals Science Foundation. She has many patents issued worldwide and many more currently in prosecution.
Dr. Ramirez is the CEO and Cofounder of Elian LLC, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in viral infectious diseases. She also founded Public Health Data Scientists (PHDS), a non-profit educational program to reduce the academic attainment gap among at-risk youth, for which she teaches a summer enrichment course on data science for under-represented high school students.
Dr. Ramirez received her MS and PhD from the California Institute of Technology.
