Umesh M. Sharma

Umesh Sharma has extensive experience in hospital medicine, serving in various leadership roles primarily at Mayo Clinic. As the Head of Division for Hospital Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic Arizona from August 2019 to March 2021, Umesh led a division of over 40 physicians and 22 advanced practice providers, focusing on recruitment, practice innovations, and collaboration for optimal patient care. Previously, Umesh held the position of Regional Chair for the Department of Hospital Medicine at Mayo Clinic Health System, contributing to leadership development and strategic planning initiatives across the region. Umesh also led the Division of Community Hospital Medicine, emphasizing clinical integration among multiple sites, and served in the hospitalist role at Marshfield Clinic. Umesh's medical training includes a Master of Science in physiology from the University of Akron and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Savitribai Phule Pune University.
