Derek Holyoak

Derek Holyoak is a manager in Biomedical Engineering Consulting at Exponent, specializing in the evaluation of medical devices for MRI compatibility and regulatory safety, alongside preclinical biomechanical testing and complex problem-solving. Previous roles include senior associate and associate positions at Cornell University, where Derek designed and conducted experiments in orthopaedic biomechanics, mentored graduate and undergraduate students, and contributed to significant research on osteoarthritis treatment. Additionally, Derek has worked as a technical consultant for gait analysis and research assistant in various medical and engineering settings, and holds a PhD in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Cornell University, along with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut.
