Scott Sommer

Scott Sommer is an experienced mediator and producer, currently serving as a Commissioner at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service since December 2017. Grandson of a tenant rights advocate, Scott has a longstanding commitment to urban affairs as evidenced by the role as Producer and Host of the "Housing Notebook" program on WBAI, 99.5 FM Pacifica Radio, which has been airing since December 1984. Prior to these positions, Scott held significant roles at the United Auto Workers as New York Subregional Director and International Representative from March 1998 to December 2017, and worked as a Senior Staff Attorney at South Brooklyn Legal Services from June 1987 to March 1998. Early career experience includes serving as a Paralegal and Tenant Organizer at South Brooklyn Legal Services, Inc. Scott holds a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from the University at Albany.
