Michael Apkon is a healthcare advisor, physician, and leader with over two decades of experience in the industry. Michael is currently the advisor, Physician & Healthcare Leader at First Ascent Biomedical.
Apkon began their career as a VP Children's Hospital at Yale New Haven Hospital in 2006. In 2010, they were recruited by The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to serve as their SVP Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer. Michael served in this role for three years before being recruited by The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto to serve as their CEO. Michael served in this role for four years before moving on to MaRS Innovation where they served as Director on their HR and Investment Committees.
In 2018, Apkon left MaRS Innovation to become the CEO of NEHI (Network for Excellence in Health Innovation). Michael held this position for two years before moving on to their current role at First Ascent Biomedical.
Michael Apkon has an MBA from Yale School of Management, an MD and PhD from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and a B.Sc. from Northwestern University.
