Mr. Saavedra joined the FirstString Research team in March 2020 as a Clinical Trial Manager. He manages the information systems and technologies the company uses for its clinical trials and is a versatile member of the clinical operations team. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences and a Minor in Physics. Mr. Saavedra carries over 10 years of clinical research experience with Phase I-IV trials. He began his career coordinating cardiovascular disease trials at Pasco Cardiology Center. Later, he worked on rare, neuromuscular disease trials at the University of Florida (UF) for the College of Medicine and College of Public Health and Health Professions. While at UF, he focused on industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials, including assisting with research on the bioenergetics and microvascular function within dystrophic muscle, published in the Journal of Applied Physiology. Additionally, he helped develop ImagingDMD to become a renowned imaging service provider within the global neuromuscular disease community. Mr. Saavedra was the point person for several trials and imaging centers across North America and Europe, and managed the collection of qualitative and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy data. He is also a member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.
